Amin. Muhammad Nadeem Naqshbandi Mopoto, Mozambique Africa 1996 wwwwww..iissllaammiirroooohhaanniimmiissssiioonn..oorrgg PPaaggee 33 44 Foreword Love, satisfaction and sweetness that the word 'Allah' bears in its folds is not a secret to a person who has remembered Allah for long. This holy name is a source of life and comfort of hearts. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran: .ةٍٛمٌا ٓئّطر الله شوزث لاا "Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest." Nowadays, despite having numerous ways of getting pleasure, man is still very far from peace and harmony in his life. He is confused and wearied, and his worries manifest in different forms. If we pause a little and think, the reason is not difficult to find Allah Almighty says: )421 :ٗؾغ (.ّٝعا خّيمٌا َٛي ,ٖشؾؾٔ ٚبىٕظ خؾيعِ ٌٗ ْأف ضشع ا ِٓ ٚ "But whosoever turns away from My Reminder, verily for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection." It means that inspite of availability of all possible means of recreation and worldly benefits, he will not be able to use them, and remain spiritually restless. To him, this world will become a place, bereft and desolate: "When this heart was like a garden, everything reflected spring, but when this heart got desolate, everything lost its lustre." Our Mushaikhs (saints) advise to do Zikr-e-Allah so that, human beings can realize the real aim of the life, that is to worship Allah Almighty. This affords pleasure of Allah Almighty and a peaceful life in this world with great reward in the Hereafter. Here, forty Hadiths Mubarak have been collected from different sources so that, people connected with Zikr circle and others, can understand the importance of Zikr-e-Allah. This will help them do Zikr with renewed vigour. And if they want to invite others towards this everflowing bounty of Allah, they can quote Hadiths from this collection. At the end, I humbly request the readers that they should pray for my parents, teachers and I that Allah Almighty may bless this humble person with true love of Aulia Allah. Amin. And Allah Almighty relates this in the company of the Angels.' Explanation: This Hadith Mubarak shows the importance and nobility of Zikr-e-Allah. When a group of people sit together to remember Allah, a special group of Angels surround their gathering and give them glad tidings of salvation. The blessing of Allah covers them from all sides and their hearts get filled with love of Allah. It affords them deep spiritual peace and solitude. The most important thing is that Allah Almighty remembers them in the company of His chosen Angels.Angels are an epitome of submission and worship. They are immune from any propensity towards error and sin. On the other hand, human composition is a mixture of good and evil. He is all the time exposed to various temptations and allurements that hinder his march to the goal of life. Despite all this, giving oneself to Zikr-e-Allah is his sign of love for his creator. In fact, this is the state and intensity of love which Allah Almighty talks about in front of Angels. „Lo see! These are My created being of that you complained about, how they are immersed in My love and remembrance. They have parted with their share of worldly attractions only for My sake. Instead they are inhibiting the world of heart with My Zikr.' Explanation: On his way to Madina Sharif, the Holy Prophetٍُع ٚ ٗيٍع الله ٍٝص passed by a mountain called 'Jamdan'. He said, 'visit this mountain and that singles went ahead than others.' When the companions asked who these singles were. The Holy Prophet ٍُع ٚ ٗيٍع الله ٍٝص said, those men and women who remember Allah very much. These are the people who are wwwwww..iissllaammiirroooohhaanniimmiissssiioonn..oorrgg PPaaggee 55 66 singled out because of their remembrance of Allah. They do Zikr Allah to the extent that people call them vain and pretentious although their hearts are so much absorbed in the remembrance of Allah that they do not pay any heed to what people might call them. But, it should be remembered that remembering Allah much is possible only by Zikr-e-Qalbi. With tongue we have to talk and deal with many other things in our daily life. Hence, it is not possible to do Zikr all the time. One can do Zikr-e-Qalbi while working with hands or talking to other people; that's why pious people (saints) say that while one is busy in work, heart should be busy in the remembrance of Allah. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran: )73 :سٌٕٛا ( الله شور ٓع عيث لاٚ حس بغر ُٙيٍٙر لا يبع س "Men whom neither trade nor sale (business) diverts from the remembrance of Allah." Hazrat Bah-ud-Din Naqshband Bukhari (may Allah bless his soul) said, ' I was surprised the most at two places. First, I saw a man in Harm Sharif Makkah, who was holding the Black Curtain of Kaaba and praying to Allah while his heart was forgetful of Him.secondly, I happened to see a young man doing business of forty thousand Dihrams, but in his heart did not lose sight of remembrance of Allah even for a moment.' Hadith No. 3 .ذيٌّ ا ٚ ٝؾٌا ًضِ شوزي لا ٜزٌا ٚ ٗثس شوزي ٜزٌا ًضِ ٍُع ٚ ٗيٍع الله ٍٝص الله ي ٛعس يبل يبل , ٝعِٛ ٝثا ٓع )ٗيٍع كفزِ ( Translation: Hazrat Abu Musa (radiyallahu anhu) narrated that the Holy Prophet ٚ ٗيٍع الله ٍٝص ٍُع said, “the one who remembers Allah, and the one who does not are like the living and the dead." Explanation: In this Hadith Mubarak, the Holy Prophetٍُع ٚ ٗيٍع الله ٍٝص ascribed those people who do Zikr Allah as living and those who are forgetful as dead. The scholars of Islam say that remembrance of Allah enlivens the heart while forgetfulness deadens it. In fact, the real life lies in perpetual and continuous remembrance of Allah. Allah Almighty out of His Ever- flowing Grace and Bounty bestows eternal life to those hearts that get alive with His Zikr. They remain alive even after death. Allah Almighty says about the Shaheed (martyrs) that they are living and get their share of subsistence from their Lord. Similarly, these Zakireen (those who do Zikr) embrace an eternal life after their physical departure from this world. On the other hand, the forgetful of Allah are dead both in this world and the Hereafter. Being alive, their life becomes useless. "It's not the life at all that I have; livings are those who have nearness with the Friend." In other words, nearness to Allah is in fact the real life, and this is not possible without Zikr-e- Allah. This simile of living and dead shows that the living is outwardly decked with Noor- Hayat (light of life) in which he is an independent and free individual who makes his own career. At the same time, Allah gives him Noor-e-Batani (Inner Light) which enlightens his inner being with knowledge, and he treads the Path of Truth in this light. The dead has no sign wwwwww..iissllaammiirroooohhaanniimmiissssiioonn..oorrgg PPaaggee 66 77 of life; hence option of making choices has no meaning for him. Those who forget Allah, their outward gets suspended and inner dark, therefore throughout their life, they grapple in darkness. Maulana Rumi aptly said, "This life is to worship and remember Allah, for without remembrance of Allah life is but shame." When he remembers Me, I also remember him. If he remembers Me alone, I also remember him alone; if he remembers Me in a company, I remember in a company better than that (company). Explanation: Three subjects are dealt in this Hadith Mubarak. Firstly, Allah Almighty deals with man what he thinks and supposes. If a human being repents sincerely of his sins and wrongdoing and places a good hope in Allah's Mercy and Forgiveness, Allah Almighty accepts his repentance and forgives his sins. Similarly, when he prays to Allah with full conviction and belief that it is Allah Almighty Who listens to His creations and accepts their prayers, Allah Almighty will fulfil all his supplications. In short, Iman (faith) lies in between hope and fear. Those who find this state in their life, they understand the secret of life. They neither become too passive nor too optimist about their wishes and actions. Secondly, whenever a human being calls his creator, he finds Him quite near. The blessings of Allah come to rescue him from every difficulty. His love become purely the love of Allah; and his worship becomes the worship of Creator, the Supreme Being.Making friends with this man, who is a friend of Allah, is in fact, friendship of Allah Almighty. Allah Almighty puts his love in the hearts of all His created beings, including the Angels. The love of these people becomes a key to Paradise. Hazrat Farid-ud-Attar (may Allah bless his soul) says: " The love of saints is a key to Paradise, and those who bear enmity to them deserve the curse." The third subject deals with the relationship of human being with his creator. Allah Almighty says that whenever a human being remembers Him in his heart (alone), I also remember him alone. My Murshid-e-Kamil Hazrat Allama Professor Muhammad Maqsood Illahi Naqshbandi says that anyone who does Zikr-e-Qalbi, Allah Almighty will reward him in such a way that even the Angels will not know it. This is in fact, what this Hadith Mubarak calls remembering Allah alone (in heart). Whenever people remember Allah collectively sitting in a circle, Allah Almighty talks about them in the company of Angels. O, Abu Razeen, do you know, when someone leaves his home to see his Momin (believing) brother, seventy thousand Angels accompany him who pray or him and say, 'O Lord, he is meeting for your sake, so give him your nearness.' If you can do it hold fast to it.' Explanation: The Holy Prophet ٍُع ٚ ٗيٍع الله ٍٝص mentions many acts of good deed in this Hadith Mubarak. Firstly, Muslims are exhorted to attend congregations of Zikr-e-Allah as many times as possible. Obviously, these gatherings reinvigorate and refresh our relationship with our Creator. These congregations are also a sure source of blessing of Allah. According to another Tradition there are some special Angels who always search for such gatherings where people sit together and remember Allah. Whenever they find such people, they cover them with their Noorani wings and Blessing of Allah descends upon that circle of people. To remember Allah alone is praiseworthy but attending such gatherings wins pleasure of Allah to a greater degree. Secondly, the believers are advised to love and hate only for the sake of Allah. This is one of the important part of Iman (faith). The companions of the Holy Prophet ٍُع ٚ ٗيٍع الله ٍٝص were endowed with this quality and degree of Iman. Allah Almighty sent His Revelation to Hazrat Musa (Moses) َلاعا ٗيٍع"Have you ever done anything for Me?" Allah Almighty questioned Hazrat Musa َلاعا ٗيٍع .The prophet of Allah replied, "Illahi, I have offered prayers for You, observed Fast and given alms and paid Zakat." Allah Almighty said, “prayer is a proof for you, Fast is a shield, alms is a shade for you, but what have you done for Me?"Hazrat Musa َلاعا ٗيٍع asked Allah Almighty, "O Lord! Then tell me what is that deed which is for You alone?" Allah Almighty replied, "have you done friendship and animosity with someone for My sake?" Thirdly, according to this Hadith Mubarak the Angels of Allah pray for the person who meets his Momin brother for the sake of Allah. The number of Angels counted here is seventy thousand. If this reward is only for meeting a believing brother than what would be the reward of meeting Aulia Allah and men of knowledge that one can hardly imagine. Whenever, they see a group of people sitting and remembering Allah, they call one another and cover the gathering up with their wings up to the heaven of this earth." The Holy Prophet ٍُع ٚ ٗيٍع الله ٍٝص said, “Allah Almighty asks the Angels though He knows the best about them.' What do My these men say?' The Angels reply that these men are praising and extolling You. The Holy Prophet ٍُع ٚ ٗيٍع الله ٍٝص said Allah Almighty asks them, "have they seen Me?" The Angels say by God, they have not seen You. Then Allah Almighty says, “what it be like if they see Me?" The Angels say that they will praise You even more. Allah Almighty asks them, "what do they ask for?" The Angels reply that they ask for Paradise. Allah Almighty asks them if these men have seen Paradise. The Angels reply that they haven't seen Paradise. Then Allah Almighty says, “what will they do if they see Paradise?" The Angels reply that they will covet and crave for it even more. Then Allah Almighty asks, “what do they seek refuge against?" The Angels reply that they seek refuge against Hell. Allah Almighty then says, "Have they seen Hell?" The Angels reply in negative. Allah Almighty says, “what if they see Hell"The Angels say that they would fear it more and seek refuge against it. Then Allah Almighty says, “O Angels! Bear witness, I have forgiven them all." The Holy Prophetٍُع ٚ ٗيٍع الله ٍٝص says, an Angel says, " O Allah! There is a person in them who has come for his own personal reason." Allah Almighty says that the one who accompanies them can never be unfortunate." Explanation: This Hadith Mubarak underlines the importance of Zikr congregations where people sit together and remember Allah. This act of theirs pleases Allah Almighty to the extent that He Himself talks about them with Angels. These Angels tell Allah Almighty that these people have gathered for the sake of Allah alone. They ask for Paradise and seek refuge against Hell. Allah Almighty bears witness the Angels that He has forgiven them and granted their wishes. Although Allah knows well about their desires and prayers, yet He asks from Angels so that they can stand witness that Allah Almighty has forgiven all their misdeeds and granted salvation. Secondly the people who accompany such blessed souls never remain deprived of Allah's everflowing Bounty even though they have their own worldly ends. One can hardly imagine the reward for those who accompany these people solely for the sake of Allah. Hazrat Farid-ud-Din Attar (may Allah bless his soul) says: "if you have sapience and wisdom, be a Dervish (saint) and sit with Dervishes." "never sit with but Dervish, and do not backbite them as long as it is possible." The companions asked the Holy Prophetٍُع ٚ ٗيٍع الله ٍٝص to tell them. He said, "Your best people are those whose sight makes you remember Allah." Explanation: According to another Tradition, these men of Zikr Allah are in fact a key to remembrance of Allah because these are the people whose very sight enhances one's urge for Zikr-e-Allah. Zikr is such a great wealth that when these people do Zikr, Allah Almighty talks about them in the company of Angels. But this wealth can not be secured without the company of men of Allah. Maulana Rumi says: " A moment in the company of men of Allah is better than hundred of acts of exercise and worship." A man came in the company of Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi (may Allah bless his soul). Hazrat Junaid (may Allah bless his soul) asked him, "What do you do?" He answered, "I live with Almighty Allah because He says, ' I am with him who remembers Me.' Hazrat Junaid (may Allah Almighty bless his soul) said, "O man of Allah! Be in the company of men of Allah because whatever you do, you will be rewarded according to your sincerity, but if you accompany these men of Allah, you will be rewarded according to their level of sincerity. Maulana Rumi says: ' Whosoever wants to sit in the company of Allah, he should sit with Aulia Ikram.' In short, lasting and abiding Zikr-e-Allah is not possible without the company of Aulia Allah. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran: )3 ءبيجٔا ( .ٍّْٛعر لا ُزٕو ْا شوزٌا ً٘اٍٛع بف "Verily, ask the people of Zikr, if you do not know."
