In the process, we designated the priorities as urgent, to be addressed in the next twoyears; important, to be startedwithin the nextfiveyears; and desirable, to be addressed overthe next 10years. These priorities, announced in October 2000, are the cornerstone for CampaignWartburg, the most ambitious comprehensive fundraisingcampaigneverundertakenbythe college. The process ofprioritizing the commission recommendations was one ofthe most intensive, yet clarifying exercises the board has ever undertaken. I am grateful for the time, attention, and energyboardmembersdevoted tothismonumentaltask. Defining and clarifying Wartburg’s goals for the future required the efforts of hundreds of alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and students. Implementing the priorities will require involvement and supportfromthousandsmore. We have charted a course of distinction for Wartburg College, and we look forward to your continuedinvolvementinourefforts. FredW. Hagemann ’67, BoardofRegents Chairman Report Annual 1 2000-200 2 President’s Our Sesquicentennial celebration has caused me to pause and reflect on the contributions of countless individualsandorgani2ationstothe college’s richtraditionsandcontinuingsuccess. Thisreportrecognizes donorswho contributedgifts infiscalyear2000-01. Thinkofhowmany pages itwould take to recognize all those who have supported Wartburg financially over the past 150years! Ifwe added volunteer efforts in support ofthe college, the listwould be longeryet. Itwould include those who have served on the Board of Regents, the Alumni Board, the Parents Committee, the MinorityAlumniAdvisoryCouncil, the Sesquicentennial Committee, and onother advisory groups. It would include alumni, parents, pastors, and friends who have encouraged prospective students to considerWartburg. We would list alumni who have hosted events, served as classagents, orrepresentedWartburgatachurchassemblyoracollegefair. On that list would be 235 dedicated volunteers who served eight Commission Wartburg task forces andwhoseworkhas significantlyimpacted the college’s future. InOctober2000, the Board ofRegents announced an ambitious set ofpriorities based on 266 task force recommendations. Many of these priorities have been implemented and others are addressed as part of Campaign Wartburg, a comprehensive effort through May 2006 to provide resources for endowment, facilities andspecialprojects, andtheAnnual Fund. As we lookwith anticipation to the future, we gratefully remember all donors and volunteers who have contributed to Wartburg’s success over the past 150 years and specifically those who supportedourefforts in2000-01.
