There was about 260 pints of blood donated this December. Many people showed up and had to wait an hour or so before it was their turn. Most of the blood was donated by students and faculty, but quite a few adults from the community showed up after school. The advisor was Mr. Morin and the two coordinators were Karen Kwok and Adam Cederbaum. This blood drive is the largest single day drive in the state. “Give blood; It's fun, it doesn't hurt, and you get free ice cream.'' — Karen Kwok Above: The students and the teachers crowd in the gym waiting for their turn to give blood. Blood Drive 5 S Wachusett High Adopts Mill Swan A unique partnership has been established in which Wachusett High wilt adopt Worcester's Mill Swan School. Mill Swan is a K-6 elementary school that qualifies for chapter one services because of its significant number of low income families. The suburban-urban school partnership that has been established by Mr. Rosen, a science teacher, will broaden the horizons of the adults and students of both schools. Through a variety of joint educational, cultural and community service activities, students will see that the interests, goals, values, and problems of people of different races, colors, backgrounds, and economic advantages are quite similiar. The activities which have occurred since Oct. 14, 1992 are a trip to the Boston Aquarium which the Wachusett students paid for by collecting money by a fundraiser. Also the young Mill Swan students came to our school during December to see our school presentations of the broadway play Bye Bye Birdie. They received a tour of our school then both the Wachusett students and the Mill Swan students went to the Worcester Art Museum. Wachusett students are in the process of designing and painting murals at both schools. This will not only be a message from the students but also it will send a message to our communities. Mr. Rosen has taken the first step to opening the horizon for the Wachusett and Mill Swan students. Send a message through caring for other people and learning new cultures. It is definitely a positive message!!! Above: Jared Creamer brought a smile to a little boy's face.
