D L-33004/99 The Gazette of India EXTRAORDINARY PART II—Section 3—Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 32] NEW DELHI, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 17. 2001/PAUSA 27,1922 152 GI/200I (1) 2_ THE GAZETTE OF TNDIA : EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—SEC, 3(ii)] 3 MINISTRY OF FINANCE (Department nf Economic Affairs) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 17th January, 2001 S.0.5()(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 of the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906) , the Central Government hereby determines that : - (a) The coins of the following denominations shall also be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government to commemorate the occasion of "Golden Jubilee of Republic" (1950-2000), namely :- (1) Fifty Rupees; (2) Five Rupees,- (3) TWO Rupees; (b) The coins of the above denominations shall conform to the following dimensions, design and composition namely :- Denomination Shape and Number Metal composition of the coin outside of diameter serrations Fifty Rupees Circular 180 Quaternary Alloy 39 millimeters Silver- 50% Copper- 4 0% Nickel- 5% Zinc - 5% Cupro-Nickel Alloy , Five Rupees Circular 100 Copper- 75% 23 millimeters Nickel -25% with security iadqe Cupro-Nickel Alloy Two Rupees Eleven Sided Copper- 75% Coin Nickel -25% 26 millimeters size from flat to crest j— — - Tm GAZETTEOTjNDIA . EXTRAORDINARY [ U-SRC 3(ii)J PART DB3IGNS (1) FIFTY RUPEES OBVERSE :- This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in v the centre with the legend " J-j^JJ\JTol"<F^Tfl- " inscribed below. Flanked on the left upper periphery with the word " '^JT'Zc^ " in Hindi and on the right upper periphery with the word "INDIA" in English. It shall also bear the denomination value "50" in International Numerals, flanked on the left lower periphery with the word " J£TlfI| " in Hindi and on the right lower periphery with the word "RUPEES" in English. REVERSE :- This face of the coin ahall bear the national emblem in the centre with "50" in international numerals below it. On the lower periphery it depicts a panorama of flowing, powerful^wavetTol; ra sea. On the upper left periphery with the words " ^ToTcTo' cfA'Zfclvt'jWXcl " inscribed in Hindi and on the right upper periphery the word "GOLDEN JUBILEE OF REPUBLIC" in English. The figure "1950-2000" shall be shown below the theme in International Numerals. (2) FIVE RUPEES OBVERSE :- This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend " ^cJ-PHoT onfa " inscribed Below. Flanked on the left upper periphery with the word " "jTr^nT " in Hindi and on the right upper periphery with the word "INDIA" in English. It shall also bear the denomination value "5" in Internationa]^, Numeral flanked on the left lower periphery with the word " -^LJi-T " in Hindi and on the right lower periphery with the word "RUPEES" in English. REVERSE :- This face of the coin shall bear the national emblem in the ^entre with "50" in international numerals below it. On the lower periphery it depicts a panorama of flowing, powerful waves of~ a sea. On the upper left periphery with the words " ^OI^dbr^Ti ^c^utoT^ct inscribed in Hindi and on the right upper periphery the word "GOLDEN JUBILEE OF REPUBLIC" in English. The figure "1950-2000" shall be shown below the theme in International Numerals. SECURITY EPQB FOR 5 RUPEES The edge of the coin shall be milled with a serrated or upright milling and security edge. In the centre of the edge there shall be a shallow groove with a degign inside the two sections separated by blank space. This design shall consist of chain of beads in relief and each bead being followed by one inclined line in relief. There shall be total 3 0 lines and 3 0 beads. 5 (3) TWO RUPEES OBVER3K :- This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend " ^JT^cf oTO C " inscribed Below. Flanked on the left upper periphery with the word " "Jip^r " in Hindi and on the right upper periphery with the word "INDIA" in English. It shall also bear the denominational value "2" in International ,^ Numerals flanked on the left lower periphery with the word " ^x\IT " in Hindi and on the right lower periphery with the word "RUPEES" in English. REVERSE ;- This face of the coin shall bear the national emblem in the centre with "50" in international numerals below it. On the lower periphery it depicts a panorama of flowing, powerful waves of a saa. On the upper left periphery with the words ""^W^SFrl Jx$XsM~<fl" inscribed in Hindi and on the right upper periphery the word "GOLDEN JUBILEE OP REPUBLIC" in English.
