We look forward to working with you to help you improve. However, it will take work on your part as well. You need to be thinking about getting yourself in Baseball Shape before the event in order to get the most out of your experience. To make the most of your opportunity, make sure you are prepared when you arrive. Preparing yourself does not mean only going to the gym and lifting weights, it involves your effort to get your Baseball Specific skills as sharp and as close to game speed as you can get them. Below is a suggested workout to follow: • Throwing - All players need to throw AT LEAST every other day. You should throw for 15-20 minutes each workout, and long toss twice a week if possible. If you have no partner to throw with, then throw into a net or a fence. • Running – All players need to run sprints 3 TIMES PER WEEK (every other day). Run 4 60- yard sprints, 4 40-yard sprints, and finish with at least a 15 minute jog each workout (the best way to better your 60-yard dash time is to run 60-yard dashes). • Fielding – Position players should have their legs ready to go through full days of drills, repetitions, conditioning and games. You will be on your feet a lot during the week, and will need to have enough strength and flexibility to maintain your energy level. In addition to fungos or live work with a ball (if possible), make sure to incorporate other work such as: jump rope, agility ladder drills, and dry footwork for your position (all can be done indoors if needed). • Hitting – All players need to AT LEAST swing a bat every day. Work on game speed dry swings, and as much as possible you need to: see thrown pitches, hit off a tee, and take soft toss. • Pitching – All pitchers need to throw AT LEAST 3 or 4 times per week, with 2 of those times per week being 30-40 pitch bullpens to a Catcher. If you have no catcher to throw to, then throw into a net or fence. Make sure to work on off-speed pitches also. • Lifting – If you ARE currently on a lifting/conditioning program, maintain it while you ADD the above baseball specific training. If you ARE NOT currently on a lifting/conditioning program, DO NOT start a new one right before your event. If you do, you will be sore and tight and unable to prepare your baseball specific skills as necessary. Keep in mind, this is only a suggested minimum amount of work to do (This is your opportunity. You have to decide how much work you are willing to do to prepare for it). If you have any questions about the information above, or would like further guidance please feel free to contact us. 9212 Berger Road, Suite 200 Columbia, MD 21046 p.800.641.4487 | f.443.283.4397 www.baseballfactory.com UUNNDDEERR AARRMMOOUURR RREECCRRUUIITTIINNGG CCLLAASSSSIICC Dear Parents: As soon as you are able to make your travel arrangements, please return the following three (3) forms as soon as possible and no later than November 30: Player Travel Information Form Baseball Factory Waiver and Consent/Rules and Regulations Form Baseball Factory Team Philosophy Form **Your son will not be provided with transportation nor will be able to participate if the proper paperwork is not received prior to the event. We believe that the key to each and every player maximizing his ability on the field is to experience national competition in game situations, in addition to building better fundamental skills through intense training. The Baseball Factory’s philosophy for National Tournament teams is to treat each team like an All-Star Team and to rotate players providing them with equal playing time, similar to how Major League Baseball treats its All-Star Game. Every effort will be made to balance playing time evenly throughout the roster as it relates to innings played and plate appearances. Players that pitch and play a secondary position may receive slightly more playing time. Since we have hand selected each player we believe that it is essential that each player have an equal opportunity to perform. We feel the Player Development experience outlined above to be critical to the mission of what Baseball Factory stands for as an organization. We do understand that baseball is a competitive sport and our coaches and players want to win. While each player is on the field, we expect them to play hard and do everything it takes to help our team. However, we will not sacrifice our philosophy in order to ensure a “win at all costs” approach by minimizing playing time for any player on the roster. Primary & Secondary Positions: Each player is required to declare (1) primary position. In addition, each player has the option to list (1) secondary position. (This should have been done when signing up for the event with your Player Development Coordinator) - Baseball Operations staff will verify at on-site registration, but cannot guarantee the acceptance of any last minute position changes (based on roster position limits) If you declare yourself a PRIMARY C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS or OF: - you will receive a fair and equitable amount of defensive time during games at your primary position, and as needed at your secondary position (if listed) - you will receive a fair and equitable number of game at bats - if RHP or LHP is listed as your secondary position, you will get at least one mound outing as needed (our first priority is to get the primary RHP and LHP mound innings) If you declare yourself a PRIMARY RHP or LHP: - you will get at least one mound outing (our goal is to give you two mound outings, but it will depend on the length of the event and the health of the pitcher’s arm - you will receive defensive time at your secondary position (if listed) during game(s) in which you are not pitching (out priorities are to get the primary position players innings, and to protect primary pitchers arms/prepare them for potential additional mound outings) - you will receive a fair and equitable number of game at bats Advice for a Two-way Player: - if you want to pitch more and play less innings in the field, declare RHP or LHP as primary - if you want to play more innings in the field and pitch less, declare C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS or OF as primary - in either case, you will receive a fair and equitable number of game at bats Please note: at times roster limitations for the event (ie: number of committed players already on the roster) will dictate which positions can be listed as your primary or secondary choice SPECIAL NOTES - if you declare SS or 2B as your primary position, please note that the case may arise in which we insert middle infielders at both middle infield positions (SS may play some 2B, 2B may play some SS) - the case may arise in which we insert players at a position which is neither listed as primary or secondary - primary or secondary position outfielders may play LF, CF, or RF By signing below, you are acknowledging that you have read the above philosophy and understand how the rotation of players will take place. _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________ Parent Signature Players Signature Date 9212 Berger Road, Suite 200 Columbia, MD 21046 p.800.641.4487 | f.443.283.4397 www.baseballfactory.com UUNNDDEERR AARRMMOOUURR RREECCRRUUIITTIINNGG CCLLAASSSSIICC Com mitment Agreement All of us at Baseball Factory are committed to help and assist each and every player we see across the country.
