Description:This new edition of Trade Unions of the World is the sixth in a sequence stretching back to 1987. The objectives and design of the book have remained fundamentally unchanged since that time. The text is organized by country in A-Z order. Entries for each country begin with a section giving a brief account of the political and economic context. There then follows an overview of the history, development and status of trade unions and the state of labour law and practice. A third section provides data on trade union centres and (where relevant) a fourth section covers significant trade unions not under the umbrella of any of the trade union centres. A final part of the book provides data on international and regional trade union bodies. For the first time, the book is published in association with the International Centre for Trade Union Rights (ICTL'R), details of which are given above.
