The total number of words, compounds, and phrases approaches 200,000 entries. Terms of technical subjects like astronomy, medicine, iconography, metrics, prosody and philosophy have also been included. All the Tibetan vocabulary entries are arranged alphabetically: the compounds and important phrases too appear in their alphabetic order to facilitate the task of the user. Inclusion of compounds and phrases has been a selective process in which the problem of discarding was second only to that of adding. Every Tibetan entry is followed by its Sanskrit equivalent. The Sanskrit equivalents have also been given in alphabetic sequence.
