VI1.2009 Abstract: Three new species names within the genus Neptis Fabricius, 1807 are proposed to replace invalid junior primary homonyms of Neptis hainana Moore, 1878: N guia gumaobini Wang & Lang nom. nov. (for N. guia hainana Gu & Wang, 1994), N namba leechuanlungi Wang & Lang, 2009 nom. nov. (for N namba hainana Wang & Gu, 1997) and N manasa neohainana Lang, Xue & Han, 2009 nom. nov. (for N. manasa hainana Lang, Xue & Han, 2009). Neptis ananta hainana Wang & Gu, 1997 syn. nov. (another junior primary homonym of Neptis hainana Moore, 1878) is a new junior synonym of N ananta yanagisawai Sugiyama, 1992. Recently, a new subspecies, Neptis manasa hainana Lang, Xue & Han, 2009, from Hainan Island, China was published. Unfortunately, it is the fifth species group taxon with the name hainana in the genus Neptis Fabricius, 1807 (Nymphalidae, Limenitidinae). Neptis hainana Moore, 1878, which is a junior subjective synonym of N hylas (Linnaeus, 1758), was the first to be named hai nana. Until now, four junior primary homonyms of N. hainana Moore have been known, they are N guia hainana Gu & Wang, 1994, N namba hainana Wang & Gu, 1997, N ananta hainana Wang & Gu, 1997 and N. manasa hainana Lang, Xue & Han, 2009. Besides N ananta hainana Wang & Gu, 1994 syn. nov. (= N ananta yanagisawai Sugiyama, 1992), it is necessary to give new replacement names to the other three junior homonyms of N. hainana Moore, 1807. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to present the three new replacement names. New replacement names Neptis guia gumaobini Wang & Lang, 2009 nom. nov. = Neptis guia hainana Gu & W ang, 1994, in Chou (1994), Monograph. Rhop. Sin. 2: 543, 766. Primary homonym of Neptis hainana Moore, 1878, Proc. zool. Soc. Lond. 1878: 697. Eliot (1969) provisionally arranged Neptis kuangtungensis Mell, 1923 from Guangdong, S. China as a subspecies of N zaicia Westwood, 1850 from NW. India. Koiwaya (1995) in „The Weekly Butterfly’s Tsu.I.So (No. 804/805: 22)“ believed N guia Chou & Wang, 1994 from Gu- angxi, S. China should be a junior synonym of N. kuangtungensis Mell. In any event, the insular N. g. gumaobini Wang & Lang, 2009 nom. nov. of Hainan is a sound species group taxon. Etymology: The subspecific name gumaobini is named after Mr. Maobin Gu, the first author of “Butterflies in Hainan Island” Neptis namba leechuanlungi Wang & Lang, 2009 nom. nov. = Neptis namba hainana Wang & Gu, 1997, in Gu & Chen (1997), Butt. Hainan Is.: 206, fig. 232. Primary homonym of Neptis hainana Moore, 1878, Proc. zool. Soc. Lond. 1878: 697. 501 ©Ges. zur Förderung d. Erforschung von Insektenwanderungen e.V. München, download unter www.zobodat.at Etymology: The subspecific name leechuanlungi is named after the late Chinese rhopaloceolo- gist Prof. Lee Chuan-Lung. Neptis numasa neohainana Lang, Xue & Han, 2009 nom. nov. = Neptis numasa hainana Lang, Xue & Han, 2009, Zootaxa 2062: 65. Primary homonym of Neptis hainana Moore, 1878, Proc. zool. Soc. Lond. 1878: 697. Etymology: The subspecific name neohainana is composed by the Latin prefix neo- and the for mer name hainana.
