Jacob Harnon is playing hooky. His life is eaten up with college classes and work so he needs the down time.

As he wanders the woods near his rural New Hampshire town, he's lured in by the last remaining remnant of a long forgotten, shape-shifting race. When the shifter offers to fulfill all of Jacob's dreams, he frees it.

Women, money, women, all the sex he wants, women, power ... Jacob is offered all this and more and the price is cheap. All he needs to do is nothing and by his inaction betray the human race.
