The People and the British Economy 1830-1914 Roderick Flood is an economic historian who has taught at Cambridge University, Birkbeck College, London, and Stanford University, California. He pioneered the use of computers and statistics to study history. His recent work, Height, Health and History (with K. Wachter and A. Gregory) uses the changing height of the British popula- tion since 1750 to describe and analyse changes in living standards. Since 1988 he has been Provost of London Guildhall University.
