When P.I. Talba Wallis receives a call from Orleans Parish Prison, the last person she expects to have to bail out is her boss’s daughter, Angie. Arrested for drug possession, Angie insists the drugs were planted by Judge Buddy Champagne, who’s targeting her for representing a neighborhood group out to shut his marina down. To prove Angie’s innocence, Talba finds herself undercover as housekeeper to a family straight out of a Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Talba dredges up plenty of interesting material to prove that the judge is dirty. But then Judge Champagne turns up dead, and to her surprise the family wants her to investigate. Was it politics or family that killed the judge?
