Jack Holden is a big fan of the silver screen, but if Hollywood ever make a movie about his life, it will be a horror film. He's lost his job as a radio presenter, his girlfriend has dumped him and eviction from his flat seems imminent. Devoid of hope, Jack scrapes together enough money for a nostalgia fueled trip to Barcelona, with the aim of ending his life there. But, when a stranger using a tantalizing alias contacts him, telling him not to go through with it, he becomes curious.
With Jack's final scenes imminent, he realizes that he's only a player, and that someone else is in the director's chair.
Author's note:
If you enjoy books by Paulo Coehlo, and like movies such as Tom Ford's 'A Single Man' and Emilio Estevez's 'The Way,' then I'm confident that you will enjoy reading 'Suicide Vacation.' Kind regards, Rich.

We meet a man who's had enough. His life is empty. Despite a lingering love for films there is little he gets worked up about, unless someone wants to annoy him. His life is reduced to mobile messaging and he also has the neighbours from hell who play computer games all night and keep him from getting some well deserved rest. His kettle is boiling dry, and it comes as no surprise . . . he decides to kill himself to end it all.
But not without taking a holiday first!
Spain seems the perfect backdrop for his plans and he is determined to do the deed while in the sunny regions of this warm and interesting country. Barcelona fits his choice of destination, and instantly there are intriguing happenings, coincidences and discoveries, which cause him to delay the final deed.
I found this a well observed piece of writing, with plenty of humour and tongue-in-cheek observations. At the same time the suicide path is trodden convincingly and earnestly, and the plot combines the two in a skilled and endearing fashion.
