Metric values no dot necessarily equal US Customary values. FOREWARD This edition of the State of Maine, Department of Transportation, Standard Specifications will be used on Projects designed and Bid in either metric or US Customary units. Individuals using these Standard Specifications must familiarize themselves with the proper units. The metric units are listed first, with the US Customary units following in brackets. The Bidder shall be responsible for determining if metric or US Customary is used in the Schedule of Items and for determining the proper Bid for the units shown. All Projects will be built in the units shown on the Schedule of Items.
