PREFACE St. Soldier College of Education, Jalandhar was established by St. Soldier Educational Society, Jalandhar in 2003. St. Soldier Educational Society has its roots back to the Year 1958, when Smt. Shanta Chopra, the President of the Society started a small school in one room with one teacher and one child. From a school with single room and single teacher to the huge group of 27 schools, 17 Colleges and 6 National Open Schools today, the odyssey has been fuelled by a pioneering vision, clarity of mission and rational approach. Keeping its teaching technology in line with the trend of the times, the society is continuously moving forward. Mr. Anil Chopra, the Chairman of the Society is a potential force and life and soul of St. Soldier Educational Society. His aim of life is to bring the quality education to the door steps of the rural people. Mrs. Sangeeta Chopra, the vice-chairperson of the Society has joined Mr. Anil Chopra in his mission to provide quality education to all sections of the Society. Besides this Sh. S.P. Kurdukur, the former Judge of the Supreme Court of India is the Chief-Patron of the Society and Sh. J.K. Saini, former minister Punjab and Ex-Mayor, Jalandhar, Mrs. Sudarshan Chopra, Director Hind Samachar Group of Newspapers are the other illustrious patrons. Under the guidelines of these patrons, St. Soldier Educational Society is scaling the pinnacle of success and glory by serving the Youth of the Nation fully and faithfully. St. Soldier College of Education is a gem in the long chain of St. Soldier Institutes which is committed to train the teachers to believe in the richness of future and a fellowship which transcends all barriers of caste, colour, creed and countries. It is touching new heights in the field of teacher education. The products of St. Soldier College of Education shall effectively transmit the intellectual traditions from one generation to another to keep the lamp of civilization burning. All our endeavours are directed to achieve this goal. St. Soldier College of Education is well resourced with a team of highly qualified and experienced teachers. Other special features of the College include Psychology, Language, Educational Technology, Science, Art Laboratories and Research and placement cells. The evaluation and assessment by NAAC will provide us with a unique opportunity for self-introspection and critical appraisal of our strengths and shortcomings. The inspection by NAAC team will definitely give us an appropriate and useful insight 1 into the critical issues and direction for future growth and development. I owe sincere gratitude to all my colleagues for cooperating with me in preparing the entire NAAC report and to the non-teaching staff for their cooperation in this exercise.
