The year ended with the lost of another icon in San Nicolas Mr. Benny Nisbeth leader of the PPA. Benny woke up everyday fighting for San Nicolas to make this a better place. We might not ever see such a devoted political person ever again, he opened the doors for many people of color to get jobs in sectors years ago were it was very difficult to get in, he made it happen. RIP my friend, you have paved the way for so many who do like they forget, but they can't deny your positive impact on this island. 3 We Culture Ended 2020 Strong. "We Culture" , for the first time in Aruba celebrated Kwanzaa(first harvest). Kwanzaa is a celebration that often includes, singing, dancing, storytelling, poetry reading, African drumming and feasting.Celebrated by Afro Americans. It takes place from the 26 of December to January 1. Actually, Dr Mauluna Karenga introduced the festival in 1966 to the United States as a ritual to welcome the first harvests to home. Kwanzaa is based on 7 principles: 1.Umoja, means Unity 2.Kujichagulia, means self determination 3. Ujima, means collective work 4 4.Ujamaa, means Cooperative economics 5. Nia , means purpose 6. Kuumba, means creativity 7. Imani, means, faith The primary symbols of Kwanzaa are the seven candles that are in the colors, Black, Red and Green, which represent the 7 principles . And every day a candle is lit . The black candle symbolizes the people of Africa, the red candles symbolizes the struggle or bloodshed in the past, and the green candles represents the earth with its abundance of possibilities the future has. Rest to say Happy Kwanzaa.. 5 Unity In The Community Foundation New Project " No Feet Left Behind ".
