This show is organized, staged, and judged in accordance with the rules of the American Rose Society. 2. Sections are open to all amateur rose growers except the Show Judges Only section. Specimen entries must be exhibitor-grown in an outdoor garden (one exhibitor or family per garden for each entry). Juniors may enter separately. 3. All entries must remain until the close of show. It is recommended that novices enter early so help will be available. 4. Only entry tags furnished by the SCCRS/ARS will be used; all others will disqualify the entry. Both the upper and lower portion of the entry tag should be completed. 5. Sections will be judged as an ALPHABETICAL SHOW. 6. First, Second, Third, or Honorable Mention place ribbons will be awarded at the discretion of the judges. Only first place Blue Ribbon winners are eligible for Best of Class Awards. 7. An exhibitor may enter multiple blooms in a class provided the entries are of different varieties, except in challenge classes where noted in the schedule. 8. All blooms entered for competition must be correctly named. 9. Roses are to be exhibited by the recognized ARS exhibition name. The on-line Modern Roses database is the most up to date ARS publication regarding names and takes precedence over all other publications. See the latest Guidelines & Rules for Judging Roses (Currently 10/2015), Page 4-1 for official ARS guidelines regarding exhibition name exceptions, and other ARS authorized exhibition name publications. ARS members can download it from the ARS web site. 10. Exhibitors must use specimen containers supplied by the Santa Clara County Rose Society. Large & miniature bowls and one liter carafes will be provided on a first- come, first-served basis. Exhibitors need to provide their OWN large and miniature English boxes, and large and miniature artist palettes. 11. The host location and the Santa Clara County Rose Society will not be responsible for private containers, loss, or damage to exhibits, or personal property of the exhibitors. 12. Wedging is permitted below the lip of the container. 13. An Old Garden Rose is any variety whose horticultural classification existed prior to 1867. The variety itself may have been introduced at any date. However, to be eligible for the Dowager Queen Award, the variety itself must have been in existence prior to 1867. To be eligible for the Victorian Award, the variety must have originated in or after 1867. 5 Rose Specimens (Division I) 14. A single entry winning more than one award with multiple Keeper Trophies will be awarded multiple Keeper Trophies. 15. Ribbons and tags are to be picked up at the close of the rose show or will be available in an unsorted box at the May meeting of the SCCRS. After the May meeting, all unclaimed tags will be disposed of and ribbons will be recycled. 16. No one shall be permitted near the judging except those duly authorized by the Chair of Judges or the Rose Show Chair. ENTRY TIPS 1. Read the show schedule. Complete both the upper and lower portions of the entry tags. 2.
