Alexanderstraat ,1, 6267 AR Cadier & Keer, the Netherlands Abstract Four additional earlier records of 2[tzPi ldieomoierts LTNNAEus from Java, Indonesia, are liste das a supplement to the record of this specie$ from Java by K,x'ro {1989), Key words imili odetnole uLsiNNAEus ,Java ,Indonesia. KATo (1989)described illustrated female llaPilidoemoleus and a matdyanus WALLAcE from W. Java ,Desa Dadog S. E. of Puncak, on 24. ix .1988 ,He stated that it was the firs trecord of this species from Java ,but this is not accurate, Below is a lis tef my finding son the subject. 1) 1 specimen. E. Java ,Tengger Mts, 2000 feet ,1890 ,obtained by FRIJHsTORFER from a Javanes ecollector (FRullsToRF E1R8,96; FRuHsToRFER, 1897 : 304; RoEpKE, 1935 : 22) .I do not know if this specirnen still exists in any collection. FRuHsToR- FER (189 7m)entioned that he had sold the specimep. 2) 2 males. E. Java ,Pasaroean (= Pasuruan) (SNELLEN ,1893-1894 (P ,erithonius CRAMER) ;RoEpKE, 1932: 33, fig.8(R demoleus stheneiinzts); Roepke, 1935: 22). These specimens are still in the collection of the National Museum of Natural History at Leyden (NMNH, Leyden) ,the Netherlands .These males were identified by van EEcKE as ssp, mal22yanbls WALLAcE but the ce]1 spots of the forewings are fused together as in sthenelus MAcLEAy (= :Pictz FaRsuHsToRFER) from the Islan dof Sumba, Otherwise they correspond to malayanzas well. 3) 1female, W'.Java,VV'eltevreden,October1914,leg,P, Bul'rENDuK. Ifound this female in the collection of NMNH, Leyden while looking for the above mentioned specimens, This female is without a doubt R d. mal4Junas WALLAcE. Weltevreden is presently a borough in Jakart aw,hich lie sdirectl wyest of the Merdeka Square. In the equally renowned collection of the Institu tofe Taxonomic Zoology (Zoologi- cal Museum) at Amsterdam, I could not find any P, demoleus from Java, Since the specimens from Pasuruan and south Jakart awere collected in the vicinity of ports, it is likely the specimens concerned were introduced into the area, but this i$ les sprobable for FRuHsToRFER's specimen. JoRDAN (i nSEI'r z1,908- 1909 : 48) regarded FRuHsToRFER's specimen also as introduce d.Nowadays the introducti oonf a species is possible in any region. As far as I know, a native population ef I2zPilio demoleorshas beenfoundinJava. never NII-Electronic Library Service TThhee LLeepipdiopdteorpoltoegiroaollogical SSoooiceityety ooff JJaapapnan 94 J.J.
