January 10, 2019 Mr. Robert Havay Dept. MR 62979 411A Highland Ave. Somerville, MA 02144 [email protected] Dear Mr. Havay: This letter is in response to your correspondence, dated December 3, 2018, to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Office. We received your request in this office on December 3, 2018, and have assigned to it tracking number DOC-CEN-2019-000375. We are responding under the FOIA to your request for a pdf copy of all records of communications between any official, employee or representative of the Department of Commerce/Census Bureau with any official, employee or representative of Google and regarding “The American Community Survey”. According to our records, on January 9, 2019, we requested that you clarify your initial request to include the employee names and or representatives of Google you would like us to research. We are still awaiting your response. At this time, the U.S. Census Bureau is under a furlough that has resulted in a reduction in full time staff. Therefore, there will be a delay in responding to your FOIA request. We will continue to process your request with all practical speed and will, in future correspondence, provide you with all documents and portions thereof to which you are entitled under FOIA as well as any appeals rights you may have. If you have any questions, please contact Erika Hawkins of my staff by telephone at (301) 763-2127 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Sincerely, Vernon E. Curry, PMP, CIPP/G Freedom of Information Act/Privacy Act Officer Chief, Freedom of Information Act Office
