Anothertaxon,Phonestdescribedasadistinctspecies fromMoxi1ocatedat theen- trancetothesamevalley,mostprobablyfallsinthecategoryofthesamespeciesin everymorphologicalfeatureasdescribedabove.Thoughthefinalconclusionshouldbe drawnafterexaminationofmorespecimensfromthelowerpartofthesamevalleyin- cludingMoxianditsnearbyregions,itseemsreasonabletoregardPbenesiasamere jndividua1variationofPdundai.Theformeristhereforesynonymizedwiththelatter. Incidentally,nearlyalltheoldtreesaroundthevillageofMoxihavealreadybeencut downandtheoriginalvegetationishardlymaintainedatpresent.Forthisreason,addi- tionalspecimensincludingthemaleof“Phonest” cannotbeeasilyreobtainedfrom thetypelocality. FouryearsafterthediscoveryoftheGonggaShanrace,anothernewspeciesof Platyceruswasdescribedunder thenameofPmiyatakei fromRekejue Xiang in Jin'yan Xianofsouthern Sichuannear theYunnanborders(TANIKADo & TABANA, 1998,p 26),whichisabout250kmdistanttothesouthbyeastinabeelinefromMt. GonggaShan.SincethemaleoftheGonggaShanspecieswasnotknownatthattime, theoriginaldescriptionoftheJin'yanXianracewasgivenundercomparisonbetween thefemalespecimensalone.
