INTRODUCTION In the checklist of Myrtaceae of Ecuador (Hoist 1999), 60 species of Eugenia were reported; approximately ca. & new 30 species represented possible taxa and some of these have been recently described (Kawasaki Hoist 2009). In preparation of the Myrtaceae treatment for the Flora of Ecuador, additional new species five of Eugenia are here described: Eugenia aequatoriensis, and E. crassimarginata, castaneiflora, E. E. longisepala, E. pusilliflora. & Eugenia aequatoriensis M.L. Kawasaki nov B.K. Hoist, sp. (Fig. ECUADOR. Bosque 1).
