Description:Excellent introductory chapter with overview of Cartwright's works in philosophy of science and economics. A collection of papers from a workshop in Germany, the philosophy professors presenting the papers are from continental Europe, UK, Canada, and USA so there is a wider range of views than has been usual in philosophy. Cartwright gives a written response to each paper, which begins with a few sentence summary of the paper, before presenting her views. Some papers disagree with her. One can learn a lot by reading only the introduction chapter plus her responses if you lack time to read the entire book. For me this book is well worth its high price.
