The to w n w as founded in the seven teen th century by the p irates o f the Caribbean Sea, w ho w ere called “ b u ccan eers” . M ontego Bay becam e th eir home port, and / th ere are still legends about hidden treasu re there. The new M ontego B ay W a x 1 M useum opened recently. It is a * • big to u ris t a ttra c tio n w ith w a x s ta tu e s o f fa m o u s ex p lo rers, buccaneers, sea captains, slave m e rc h a n ts 2 and crim inals. O u r s t o r y s t a r t s o n e F r id a y m o rn in g in O c to b e r a t th e M a rtin s’ hom e. Bill and M ichelle M artin lived w ith th eir parents in a nice old house. Bill w as a tall boy of sixteen, w ith brow n hair and blue eyes. 1. Montego High School This w as his third y e a r at M ontego High School. Science w as his favo rite subject and he w an ted to becom e a biologist. Basketb all w as his sport and he w as one o f the best players on the school team . His sister M ichelle w as a p re tty girl o f fifte e n w ith short red hair and blue eyes. She loved all kinds of m odern m usic and had a big collection of CDs. This w as her second y e a r at M ontego High, and she w as a m em ber o f the Jo u rn alism Club, w hich published the m onthly school paper. “ H u rry up, M ich elle! It ’s la te !” sh o u ted Bill fro m th e livin g room. “ I’m com ing!" shouted M ichelle from the top o f the stairs. She ran d o w n and to o k h e r b a c k p a c k . “ B y e , M o m ! S e e y o u th is aftern o o n .” "Bye, M om !” said Bill. “T h e re ’s basketball p ractice today. See you at dinner.” “ E n jo y y o u r v is it to th e n e w m u s e u m !” said th e ir m o th e r. Their fa th e r w orked at the airp o rt and he w as alread y at w ork. Bill and M ichelle m et th e ir good friend Nick Chan in fro n t of the park. He w as a tall C hinese-A m erican o f sixteen; he w as a m em ber of the basketball team too. “ Hi, guys!” said Nick sm iling. “ L e t’s hope this visit to the new w ax m u seu m 'w on ’t be boring.” “ I kno w ,” said Bill, “ and w e have to w rite a rep ort about it fo r M rs Je n k in s.” The stud ents o f the second and th ird y e a r w ere visitin g the new m useum th a t m o rn in g . He w as one o f the fa v o rite teach ers at M ontego High, because he w as frien d ly and his classes w ere interesting. O ne d ay in Ju n e M r O ’Neil w e n t out on his boat, th e North S ta r. H e s a ile d e a s t to th e B a h a m a s an d in to th e B e rm u d a Triangle. No one knew w h y he w as going there. The Coast Guard found his boat a few days later, but he w as m issing 1 — only his dog w a s on th e b o a t. T h e y to o k th e N orth S t a r b ack to th e M ontego B a y Po rt and left it there. The M iam i police said P e te r O ’Neil w as m issing, because his body w a s n e ve r found. T h e y opened a police file and gave it a n u m b e r: File N um ber 113: The O ’N eil Case. W h e re w a s P e te r O ’N eil? No one knew — it w as a m ystery. The local n ew sp ap er The M iam i Times w ro te a lot of articles about the "O ’Neil C ase.” The last one said: Peter O’ Neil, another victim of the Triangle? July 10 - A month after the Police S ergeant R obert disappearance of Peter O’Neil, Walters says, “ People, boats the police are still trying to and airplanes often disappear solve the case.
