Reluctant detective Mercy Watts' life is changing and she's ready for it with a new apartment, a new career, and new clues to an old family mystery. She has no desire to go back to haunted St. Sebastian anytime soon, but a man in Germany has other plans.

After an audacious attack, Mercy finds herself a victim and when answers aren't forthcoming, she joins forces with the suspect's family to find out why the unthinkable happened.
