Malcolm X (El Hajj Malik El Shabazz) 1925-1965 Malcolm X took the lead in life when he decided to educate himself to improve his vocabulary and intelligence while he was incarcerated. He took the lead in life when he decided to speak out on the as sassination of President John F. Kennedy when Elijah Muhammad ordered that no minister shall make any public comments on the killing. He took the lead in life when he made a pilgrimage to Mecca finding out that in the Muslim religion there isn't a worry about color or race, just that they are all human beings given praise to their God "Allah". We must re member through it all he led himself ... he took the lead making his own future. Malcolm X - our Afro-American Leader. Bennett On ovember 19, 1992, Alumni Day, you experienced the enthu ia m and commitment of member of the Ia of 1972. The e men and women took time out of their bu y chedule to come back to their high chool and hare orne of their fonde t memorie and pride for Malcolm X habazz High with you. I hope you will always remember that day and reflect on how they managed to bring about the renaming of outh Side High chool. A high chool tudents they had a goal and they did not stop until that goal wa achieved. In June of 1972, they graduated proudly from Malcolm X Shabazz High chool a the fir t class to receive diploma imprinted with the chool' new name.
