The interplanetary alien organization known as the AOIB receives a visit by the human called Andrew Lockeford. Although he and his race are a forbidden species, he is kept for study and trained to be a genetically-engineered soldier. Furthermore, Andrew mentions how he was abducted by the Selentors, an enemy to the AOIB, and how he escaped their grasp. As this story progresses, secrets are revealed, the division between good and bad fades into a blur, and the suspense tightens as problems only get worse. All the while, Andrew can't help but ponder over many things, such as artificiality, hypocrisy, the significance of the individual, and even the purpose of life.
