This standard was onqrnalty published in 1973 and subsequently revised in 1981. This revision of the standardhas been taken up toalign itwith ISO2503 :1998by adoption,underdualnumbering system. This standardcovers all the important aspectsofpressure regulators for gas cylinders including the safety aspects.Certain aspects of physical characteristics that is pressure, flow rate and equipment classes for differenttypes of industrial gases used are specified very clearly. The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are,however.not identicalto those used in Indian Standards.Attention is particularlydrawn tothe following: a) Whereverthewords'InternationalStandard'appearreferring tothis standard,theyshouldbe read as 'IndianStandard'. b) Comma (,)has been used asadecimal marker, while in Indian Standards,the currentpracticeisto use apoint (.)as the decimal marker.
