Liquid floor polishes are used to protect the wooden, linoleum, PVC and mosaic floor surfaces. Regular application of such polishes removes the ingrained dirt and grease, give hygenic and shining look and guards the floor surfaces against damage by scratches under normal conditions of use. This standard was first published in 1969. This revision was taken up based on the experience of the industry for over two decades. In this revision, flash point has been reduced to 3O”C, the drying time after spreading modified and a requirement for the polish to be non-injurious to health has been included. Standard marked products are also continuously checked by BIS for con- formity to that standard as a further safeguard. Details of conditions under which a licence for the use of the Standard Mark may be granted to manufacturers or producers may be obtained from the Bureau of Indian Standards.
