Another 20% have seizures which are only partially responsive todrugs. Thesedrug-resistantseizuresarecalled"intractable",andthepatientswho have them-about Iin250inthegeneralpopulation-presentamajorchallengetophysicians, neurologists and epilepsy associations. The present volume describes the symptomatology of the major "intractable" syndromes,themostappropriatedrugsforeach, andthepossibilitiesfor surgicalcontrol.
