Иванов, 2021 PREFACE The discipline «History (Russian History, General History)» is ordered to the first-year foreign students of Izhevsk State Medical Academy. The basic purpose of this course - the studying of Russian and world history, the developing of analytic thinking and receiving of experience by public discussions. The aims of the course - to research the main historical processes, the methods and specifics of historical science, to define a place of Russia in world civilization. The suggesting results of learning the discipline «History (Russian His­ tory, General History)» are the forming of basic educational standards: Ability of critical analyses in the difficult situations on the base of sys­ tem approach; Ability of analyzing of multiculturalism by the process of intercultural cooperation. The present study guide is ordered for practical course by the disci­ pline «History». It is based on the textbook: B.A. Engel, J. Martin. Russia in World History. Oxford University Press, 2015. The students could have found it in Internet, in the electronic form at the Department of Philosophy and Humanities of ISMA, also in the printed variant in the scientific library of ISMA. The 8 themes of the guide are correlating with the 8 chapters of the mentioned textbook. Each theme contains a title, main topics for discus­ sion and keywords from the textbook in English and in Russian translation concerning the special historical definitions and common vocabulary as well that could provide the learning of Russian language by the foreign students, also tests and tables. At the end a chronology of the important events in Rus­ sian and world history is presented. This learning guide could be used in self-study and in classroom acti­ vities. 3 Theme 1.
