Each year millions die of cancer of the lung, breast, intestines, prostate and dozens of other forms. Individuals who escape the tragedy of cancer are blessed, and families free of cancer have much to be grateful for. Although medical science claims to be winning the war on cancer, the mortality statistics show otherwise. Even when cancer is discovered and treated early, many patients ultimately succumb to the disease. Despite the latest advances in treatment, the cure rate for certain forms of cancer remains abysmal. Why is this so? The crux of the matter is that the cause of cancer is still not well understood by medical scientists. Nor does medical science recognise the role of the hidden killer in the picture, the so-called ‘cancer microbe’—the infectious agent that is always present and active in cancer. As the cancerous process continues, these microbes greatly increase in number and toxicity. Unrecognised by medical scientists, it is this hidden infectious process that causes the debilitation, weight loss, loss of appetite and deterioration that every dying cancer patient experiences. Our inability to cure cancer largely stems from the refusal to recognise the existence and importance of the cancer microbe. For many years traditional medicine has used surgery, radiation and chemotherapy as the primary forms of treatment for cancer. For some patients this has proved successful. However, for all those who have died of cancer these forms of therapy must be considered a failure. Obviously, new forms of cancer therapy must be undertaken if we are to improve our ability to cure it. The extreme resistence of orthodox medicine to alternative forms v vi Heal Cancer of cancer treatment is legendary. Any form of therapy that does not include surgery, radiation or chemotherapy is likely to encounter severe condemnation by the medical establishment. The conventional approach to cancer treatment is directed at killing the cancer by surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. In this process the patient is expected to do little else but cooperate fully in the oncologist’s treatment plan. If the treatment fails, the physician sadly declares that everything that could have been done was done. The cancer simply did not respond to the treatment. It is a rare doctor who will challenge the system and dare to suggest that more can be done and should be done for the healing of cancer. It is a rare doctor who will encourage the patient to use the power of the mind and suggest meditation and affirmations in the fight against disease. Rarely do physicians suggest dietary changes, or the addition of supplements, vitamins and minerals as adjuncts for cancer treatment. In this book, Ruth Cilento bravely presents unorthodox and controversial elements of cancer healing for your consideration. In addition, Dr Cilento brings the reader a treasure trove of knowledge derived from the research of the great cancer pioneers who have studied the cancer microbe, and who have developed therapies to combat its harmful effects in the body. ‘Wholistic’ treatment methods for cancer are often criticised as being unscientific; however, in the light of cancer microbe research studies, the rationale for wholistic treatment begins to take on additional meaning and significance. For many years I have studied the cancer microbe, not only in cancer but also in other immunologic diseases, including AIDS. I am often asked how the cancer microbe can be killed. It took me many years to figure out that the cancer microbe is, in reality, inseparable from us. The cancer microbe resides in everyone, the healthy people and the sick. It is in us and of us and cannot be destroyed—only transformed. People who have been cured of cancer are living in harmony with the cancer microbe. Everything that happens to us serves as an opportunity for growth and transformation. Even a diagnosis of cancer can serve as a stimulus for positive change in our lives. Each of us must pioneer our healing in the way that is best for Foreword vii us. Doctor Cilento has vast experience as a medical healer. I applaud her willingness to share her experiences with others in need of guidance and support in difficult circumstances. I admire Dr Cilento’s courage in presenting the controversial ideas contained in this book. It is my belief that cancer can eventually be conquered by opening our minds to new ideas about its origin and treatment. In this process we will undoubtedly discover new facets of our mind-body-spirit relationship which also connects us all to one another, to the planet and to the cosmos. Alan Cantwell Jr, MD Doctor Alan Cantwell MD is a dermatologist and cancer/AIDS researcher who has written over thirty published papers on cancer, AIDS, and other immune deficiency diseases.
