Description:Initial chapters describing the history and theory of chromatography are followed by coverage of the various types of chromatography, detection methods, and quantitative analysis, and a broad range of applications, such as in flue gas scrubber solutions, analysis of chemicals, solvents, organic acids, detergents, household products, beverages, baby food, sweeteners, and so on. The third edition, substantially revised and expanded, is twice as long as the second edition of 1994. New sections have been added on ion exchange chromatography; hyphenation with mass spectrometry; validation of ion-chromatographic methods; and applications for the analysis of carbohydrates, amino acids, proteins, and nucleic acids (some of the latter sections were written by Dietrich Hauffe). New material has been added on applications in the petrochemical industry and the pulp and paper industry, and the chapters on detection and applications have been expanded in both content and the quantity of examples used for illustration.
