Wayne has asked his leadership team to intermittently provide our community of faith an account of parish wide events as well as spiritual insights and reflections related to our Catholic Faith. First and foremost, I am so happy to be back full time with St. Michael the Archangel. It has been my home for the last 10 years and I am privileged to be in full time service to you and our pastor, Fr. Wayne. In October of 2017, the parish staff was reorganized and a leadership team was formed. Your parish leadership team is comprised of Ann Cashiola, Justin Aquila, Fr. Michael Applegate and myself, under the direction of Fr. Wayne Wilkerson. Ann, Justin, and I are Pastoral Associates, which designates us as those sharing in the daily pastoral care of the faithful. Ann provides leadership for liturgy & music within the parish; Justin is responsible for the management of the parish personnel as well evangelization and catechesis. I am also leading the parish’s evangelization and catechetical initiatives, while also providing leadership of parish operations. Fr. Michael, of course, assists Fr. Wayne and provides support in the sacramental and operational care of the parish, as well as leading the parish’s technology team and the Vocations Committee. This new leadership structure allows for increased communication and availability to parishioners and staff alike. We are excited about the possibilities! The last four months have been incredibly busy ones. Our parish family personally experienced the devastation of Harvey with sixty plus (60+) St. Michael families experiencing partial to total losses of their personal property and homes. Our church and school buildings were not spared. We are currently beginning repair on over $52,000.00 worth of damages to both the school and church buildings. As is often the case in times of great difficulty, the Spirit of the Lord in you, responded in an amazing way. Over 1000 people came out to assist those in need with clothes, cleaning supplies, food, blood drives and monetary donations. As a result, we have been able to assist all the families who requested assistance, on multiple levels. Thank you again for your generosity. We ask you to continue to pray for those impacted, as they continue to struggle to regain some level of normalcy in their lives for a time to come. In January, we held our 1st Annual Ministry Fair. We hosted over 28 parish ministries and were thrilled to have so many of you visit those tables and offer your services. We had 35 new parishioner registrations that day! The program booklet, which features our spring formation programs was also introduced. Please take advantage of the many new and ongoing faith formation programs featured there. One of the more popular new programs is our SCRIPTURE AND TRADITION group which features different speakers each week to discuss the upcoming Sunday readings. It is a wonderful way to prepare for Sunday Mass. Join us on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the Activity Building Room 1! If you are looking for a way to get more involved, there continues to be a need for Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers, Altar Servers and Lectors. I urge you to pick up a form in the Welcome Center in the Narthex to sign up to serve! Your Parish Community appreciates and needs you! Until next time, you remain in our prayers. Please keep us, in yours.
