It began in 1978 on a dreary, rainy weekend during an arts and crafts show at Stan Hywet Hall in Akron, Ohio. Since she and her fellow artists had time on their hands, she began creating clay mushrooms, which at that time embellished her calligraphed plaques. The artist next to her looked over at the mushrooms and said some words that changed her life forever (though she didn’t know it at
