Gray is relatively widespread, though not abundant, through central T exas to north-central Oklahoma, not quite reaching Kansas. It occurs mostly in sandy habitats from abandoned fields, pastures, roadsides, sandy prairies, mesquite savannas, and floodplains to oak- juniper and live oak-post oak woodlands (Nesom 2012). The present note documents the native occurrence ofthe species in a prairie remnant in northwestern Louisiana (Fig. 1). Louisiana. Hill 30040 (MO); ca. 4 mi SE of Blanchard, S ofLa Hwy 173, roadbanks ofNorth Lakeshore Drive, 29 May 1979, Thomas 65016 (MO-2 sheets). The two localities are described differently but both collections appear to be from the very same place, on the west-northwest perimeter of Shreveport, about 2.3 Hwy miles from Interstate 20, slightly north ofCross Lake, southeast of Lakeview Park.
