Keep the packaging until the shade operates to your satisfaction. ■ Save these instructions for care and cleaning, shade removal, and reinstallation procedures. ■ Check the diagram to make sure you have the necessary parts. Bracket Placement ■ Bracket placement is the same for inside and outside mounts. ■ Measure 2" in from the ends of the headrail and mark the bracket location on the mounting surface. ■ Space additional brackets evenly between the end brackets. ■ Adjust the bracket placement to accommodate obstructions to the bottom rail, such as window cranks or handles. 2" Space Evenly Space Evenly 2" Installation Brackets Inside Mount Applications The depth required for a fully recessed inside mount depends on the type of installation bracket and sill dimensions. Chart Outside Mount Applications The minimum mounting height for outside 11/4" Bracket mounted shades is 1". ■ Center each bracket over the previously made mark on the mounting surface. ■ Attach using two screws. ■ Use a level to check that the brackets are level 1" and aligned. Blocks ■ Mount with solid sides facing mounting surface. ■ Mounting screws should be long enough for a secure installation. ■ Attach using two screws. ■ Use a maximum of three spacer blocks per bracket. ■ Use a level to check that the spacer blocks are level and aligned. Extension Brackets (Optional) Extension brackets project the installation brackEext tuenps tioon 21/2" from the mounting surface. Bracket This allows for additional clearance for obstructions such as window cranks or handles. EExxtetennssioionn ■ To shorten the extension brackets, use pliers BBraracckkeett or, if necessary, a metal saw to break along Extension the indentations. Bracket ■ Use a level to check that the extension brackets are level and aligned. ■ Attach using two screws. ■ Attach the installation brackets to the underside of the extension brackets using the machine screws and nuts provided. Note: Attach the installation bracket to the same holes on all extension brackets to ensure that the installation brackets are projected the same distance away from the mounting surface. End Mount Applications For end mounting, see the Honeycomb Shades End Mount Installation Instructions. Install tHe sHade Lower the shade about 4". ¾" & 1¼" Headrails For 3/4" And 11/4" Headrails: Bracket ■ With the colored side of the fabric facing you, insert the headrail at an angle so the back tab on the bracket fits into the back groove on the headrail. ■ Rotate upward to snap into place. For 3/8" Headrails: Headrail ■ With the colored side of the fabric facing you, insert the front lip of the bracket at an angle into the front groove on the top 3/8" Headrails of the headrail. Bracket ■ Rotate the headrail up and back to snap the back tab into place. Note: Be careful not to pinch or catch any of the fabric in the installation bracket. Headrail Install tHe Hold-doWn Brackets (optIonal) Hold-down brackets can only be used with outside mounted shades. ■ With the shade fully lowered, insert the pin on the hold-down bracket into the hole on the bottom rail end cap. ■ Mark the mounting hole locations on the mounting surface. ■ Center the hold-down brackets over the mounting hole locations and check their alignment. Attach using two screws. Note: Disconnect the bottom rail from the hold-down brackets to raise the shade. Note: Hold-down brackets and pre- drilled end caps will be provided only when pre-ordered. 8 secure tHe cord tensIoner ■ It is imperative that the cord tensioner be properly secured to the wall or window frame to reduce children’s access to the cord loop. Young children can strangle in cord loops. they can also wrap cords around their necks and strangle. ■ Furthermore, the shading will not operate properly unless the cord tensioner is secured. A cord tensioner installation kit has been included with your shading. Follow the instructions in the kit to correctly secure the cord tensioner. IMPoRtANt: See the Child Safety Section on page 14. operatInG tHe sHade ■ Lower the shade by pulling on one side of the cord loop. ■ Raise the shade by pulling on the other side of the cord loop. ■ If the cord tensioner moves up the cord, you have not secured it to the wall or window frame.
