The story of a doctor who in 1952 needed only 12 days to commit what some at the time described as “a miracle cure.”  During those 12 days he lobotomized 228 men, women and children using a 10 minute procedure he claimed to have invented using an ice pick. 

To premiere his new procedure he chose a public psychiatric hospital in West Virginia. For the overcrowded and underfunded mental facility  he was initially thought to be a savior. To the professionals who watched in horror this was not brain surgery being done on these patients. It was criminal.
