Youelectedustoprovideyouwithgood adviceatTownMeetingsandtoseethattheTowniswellmanaged duringthecourseoftheyear. Thatisnotalwaysaneasytask. But wetakethejobseriouslyandgiveitourbest.WemeeteachTuesday at9:30 a.m. andourfirsthalfhourisopentounscheduledvisitsby anyonewithaproblemoracomplaint.Wetryveryhardtolistento thecommunity. We want Town services to be both good and affordable. It is difficult to draw the line on how much is affordable or to set priorities,butwemust.Astimesgettougherwemustworktogether morethanever. Weareproudofbothourunionandournonunion employees who accepted a wagefreezefor 1991. Taxes went down in 1990 by $.10 per thousand, due to our restraint. That may not seem like much, but it reversed a long upward trend. TheBoardworkedonmanyprojectsin 1990,butnonewasmore satisfactory than the reaction to the Swift River Covered Bridge. The Special Town Meeting support was great, and the outpouring of money and support by many private citizens was truly over- whelming. Thank you foryourcommunity spirit. The many fine unpaid members ofour Boards and Committees keepoursagovernmentbythepeopleanddeserveourgratitude.In addition to their normal Selectmen duties, Raymond Leavitt, Jr., stepped forward to organize local economic development efforts and chairs the Fire Advisory Committee, and Cynthia Briggs serves on the Highway Advisory Task Force and the Planning Board. Voting on Articles 1 through 16 will beby official ballot, and the polls shall open forballoting at nine o'clockin theforenoon oras soon thereafter as the Moderator calls the meeting to order and declares a quorum present. Theremaining articles oftheWarrant shallbeacteduponatseveno'clockintheeveningorattheclosing ofthepollsifthemeetingshallvotetokeepthepollsopentoalater hour. ARTICLE 1. To choose all necessary officers. ARTICLE 2. To see whether or not theTown will voteto adopt AmendmentNo. 1 asproposedandrecommendedbythePlanning Board for the Town Zoning Ordinance amending provisions of Conway Code 147-11.1 and 147-24 by modifying the regulations andtheShorelineProtectionDistrictboundariesalongPequawket Pond. ARTICLE 3. To see whether or nottheTown will vote to adopt AmendmentNo.2asproposedandrecommendedbythePlanning Board for the Town Zoning Ordinance amending provisions of Conway Code 147-4, 147-6, 147-11.B(3), 147-15.E, and 147-11.l.B(4) byconsolidatingandmodifyingtheprovisionsofthecodepertain- ing to non-conforming uses, lots and structures into one Code Section 147-4. ARTICLE 4. To see whether or not theTown will vote to adopt AmendmentNo. 3asproposedandrecommendedbythePlanning Board for the Town Zoning Ordinance amending provisions of Conway Code 147-12.A by correcting a typographical mistake in the Commercial Home Occupations regulations. ARTICLE 5. To see whether or not theTown will voteto adopt AmendmentNo. 4 asproposedandrecommendedbythePlanning Board for the Town Zoning Ordinance amending provisions of Conway Code 147-13.D by clarifving the text to provide for two separate special exceptions within the Wetlands Conservation District.
