Theworkalsoshowsthat,whiletheUnitedStatesandtheUnitedKingdomhave differentpoliciestowardcopyrightinggovernmentdocuments,officialsinbothcountries largelyhavethesameconcerns.Ingeneral,theywantwidespreaddistributionofnon- confidentialgovernmentinformationthathasadirectbearinguponreelectionprocess.At thesametime,governmentsinbothcoxmtriesseekwaystofundpublicationsthatarenot IX inlargepoliticalandeconomicdemand.Itisclearthatamajorreasonforthedifferent policies,however,isthedominanceoftheargumentintheUnitedStatesforreadyaccess toofficialinformationcomparedtoagreaterconcernintheUnitedKingdomforsecrecy, security,andaccuracy.Butbothcountriesusecopyrightasameansofcontroloverthe flowofgovernmentinformation.
