Since Vergara purchased Club Deportivo Guadalajara in November 2002, the club has seen nothing short of a sporting renaissance. Under his ownership, Guadalajara won its record eleventh Mexican First Division title in December 2006; along the way, Chivas reached the Mexican league finals (2004) and semifinals (2005, 2006), while also making impressive semifinal runs in South America’s prestigious Copa Libertadores championship for two consecutive years (2005, 2006). In 2010, Guadalajara disputed the Copa Libertadores final against Internacional of Brazil and also inaugurated its state of-the-art stadium, Estadio Omnilife, with capacity for 45,000 fans, and of which was home to the 2011 PanAmerican Games, event held in Guadalajara. Vergara is also founder of Grupo Omnilife, now ranked as one of the 200 top corporations in Mexico. Entering his second year as COO & CFO, Gatmaitan oversees various aspects of the business, departmental operations and execution of strategies. He represents the club as Chief Business Officer and manages general administration, finance and accounting. Gatmaitan reports directly to company President Antonio Cué and the Board. Gatmaitan brings over 20 years of business experience to Chivas USA, hav- ing held executive and leadership positions in general management, busi- ness operations and finance. Prior to joining the club, he worked extensively in the film and entertainment industry, with independent live and animation film companies and their international global partnerships. From 1989-2002, he was at Imperial Entertainment, a U.S. subsidiary of Danish group Scanbox Entertainment, while also working for affiliates Sterling Home Entertainment, Screenland Pictures and several guild represented and non-union production companies. Gatmaitan served as Vice President and Controller, CFO, and eventually President and Chief Operating Officer. From 2004-2006, he was at Taffy Entertainment, a subsidiary of animation company Mike Young Productions and MoonScoop, the French group.
