John moved to Marshall Bus in Cambridge, leaving in 2002 to join Turkish bus and truck manufacturer BMC where he was responsible for the 1100FE Schoolbus and the Condor service bus, the latter re-engineered for the UK market. This was followed by periods at Autocruise Motorhomes, Optare and Goole-based ambulance and minibus manufacturer Oughtred and Harrison until John was invited back to Optare in 2011. He also contributed to bus preservation in 1973 when John and others established the organisation that Devon General minibus in new role today is the Transport Museum Wythall.
