Having graduated from the University of Warwick, Institute of Education, Laurence and his wife moved to Yorkshire where he taught in a middle school in Bradford. In 1977 they moved back to the Midlands where Laurence started working in secondary schools in Nuneaton and later in Leamington Spa. Over the course of his career he was Head of English, Head of Faculty of Language and Communications, and twice Head of Sixth Form. He also worked for the University of Southampton Centre for Educational Marketing and lectured across the country on marketing and public relations for schools. Laurence was a contributor to the Schools’ Management Handbook between 1992 and 1995, writing about public relations and marketing for schools. Laurence has written numerous articles over the years for edu- cational magazines and journals and has made several radio and television appearances. In recent years he has worked as a supply teacher and as a one-to-one tutor.
