Bangla Bengali to German Dictionary Bangla Theke Deutsch Worterbuch Subhashish Chattopadhyay Preface Subhashish does not know German. Hardly any. While Bengali or Bangla is his mothertongue. As most of us think we know English, we can always try to learn little bit of any language we wish. Surely not planning to meet Bangla Teachers to discuss influence of Pali language and words in Bangla. Bathing in Hindi is Nahana; while in German it is Nehmen! Do we see the connection? In Tamil night is Ratri; same as is Bangla or Hindi. But Fever in Hindi is Bukhar, in Bangla it is Jor, in Tamil it is Jwaram. What are the similar words in various languages and why, is a big subject. Linguists are always throwing light on that. Though some enjoy fighting as well ! ( :-D ) Some Bengali words can be learnt at the earliest. Pisi is sister of Dad. Pisi’s son will be cousin, while in bangla we specify Pistoto Bhai. Where broter is Bhai. Kaku is brother of Dad. Kaku’s son will be cousin, while in bangla we specify Khurtoto Bhai. The older word KhuRo also means uncle. Mama is brother of Mom. Mama’s daughter will also be cousin, while in bangla we specify Mamato Bon. Where Bon is sister. Intuitively Mama’s son is called Mamato Bhai. Jethu is elder brother of Dad. Bhai is used for male brother or cousin, who is yonger. Dada is the word for older brother or male cousin. So Jethu’s son if older is called Jerthotho dada. While if younger then Jhertoto bhai. Jethu’s daughter if older is Jherthotho didi. If younger then Jherthotho bon. Someone who wants to learn a language quickly may prefer a simple word of cousin. While in Bangla we do not have a single word for cousin! Internet has helped us with easy translation, and free learning to anyone with initiative. Subhashish has worked a bit to collect and make this dictionary. Just for little bit of fun, after teaching Science since 1989. Since 2000 Subhashish stays in Bangalore. Previously he was in Jamshedpur. Visited Jordan, Egypt, Dubai, Japan, Uganda, Nepal etc. This book pdf was made in 2020, at the very special times of corona.
