All ofthis is possible because ofthe many volunteers and the quality ofemployees in the Town ofAuburn. We would like to give a special thanks to all of these people, including theirspouses and significant others. We, the Board ofSelectmen, consider ourselves mediocre conductors working with a world class orchestra. We are very proud to be serving with them and the citizens ofthe community. Our road reconstruction program continues to move forward. Bunker Hill Road was completed and Pingree Hill Road was reconstructed from Wilson Crossing to the Pingree Hill bridge, with the final coat oftar to be put on this year. The State ofNew Hampshire has accepted the Coleman Road Bridge. This is to be replaced under the Bridge Aid Program. Eaton Hill Road, from Hooksett Road to Raymond Road, is to be reconstructed to accommodate the Safety Complex building, which is scheduled to be erected in 2000. The Board ofSelectmen have decided to place money aside to be able to stabilize the tax rate in future years. The Unexpended Fund balance on December 31, 1998 was $1,100,000.00 and it is estimated the balance on December 31, 1999 will be in the area of$1,500,000.00. Rather than raise dollars through taxation, increasing the tax rate, dollars could beremoved from the fund with your approval, to help maintain a stable tax rate. It IS anticipated closure will take place on the sale ofthe Rifle Range property and construction is to begin on the Wellington Business Park. This will expand the tax base. We welcome all ofournew residents and highlyrecommend that you examine the 1999 Town Report, as it contains a wealth ofinformation. As always, all ofyour suggestions are welcomed. Your time and talent as volunteers is what makes us proud to live in Auburn. This is the year to volunteer. Will you step forward? Thanks. Albert J.
