Curriculum Vitae Alper Yilmaz, PhD Associate Professor Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering The Ohio State University Personal statement Dr. Yilmaz is an Associate Professor of Geodetic Engineering with appointments in Civil Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering Departments at The Ohio State University. He was awarded the Turkish Informatics Foundation High Academic Performance Award in 1999, two graduate merit fellowships from UCF in 2000 and 2001, the Hillman Award for excellence in research from UCF in 2003, the Duane Brown Photogrammetry award from OSU in 2008 and the Lumley Research Award from the College of Engineering at OSU in 2012. He is a senior member of IEEE and an active member of ACM, and ASPRS professional societies. Dr. Yilmaz is currently chairing the ISPRS working group on Image Sequence Analysis. He is currently serving as associate editor for the Computer Vision and Machine Learning Journal and has served assoc. editor for the Machine Vision and Applications journal between 2006-2011. Dr. Yilmaz has organized a number of conferences and workshops on Computer Vision and Photogrammetry fields. Dr. Yilmaz’s research on 2D and 3D image and video understanding from image streams has received over $5M in extramural funding. Dr. Yilmaz has published over 80 journal and conference papers which received more than 5000 citations. He has served as adviser for 14 PhDs who have found positions in prominent institutions.
