Khumbu Himal. 1970, 3(2): 371-388 A TAXONOMIC STUDY OF THE ANT GENUS LEPISIOTA SANTSCHI FROM SOUTHWESTERN CHINA (HYMENOPTERA FORMICIDAE FORMICINAE) Xu Zhenghui (DepartmentofForest Protection, Southwest ForestryCollege, Kunming, 650224) Abstract The replacement names of the ant genus Acantholepis Mayr are discussed. Acant- holepis Mayr is a junior homonym of Acantholepis Kroeyer. Lepisiota Santschi is the available replacement name for Acantholepis Mayr. Baroniurhania Pagliano et Scaramozzino is a junior synonym of Lepisiota Santschi. Three species of the genus Lepisiota are collected in Southwestern China. L. capensis ( Mayr) is a new combina- tion. L. acuta sp. nov. is close to L. capensis (Mayr), but the former with the thorax densely reticulate, in profile view the lateroposterior angles of propodeum acutely dentate, petiolar node with a pair ofspines, laterodorsally pointed. Holotypc: worker, Wenquan (102.4 ° E, 24.9° N), Anning Co., Yunnan Prov., 1850 m, l-X-1991, no. A91-900 ( Xu Zhenghui). Paratypes: 5 workers, with the same data as holotype; 15 workers, with the same data as holotype but nos. A91~ 867, A9.1~ 872, A91~ cfeiii^: '\'msmi(s.s.mi^m%'A-mnii 237 897. L. reticulata sp. nov. is close to L. opaca (Forel), comb, nov., but the new one with the scapes of antennae longer, extending beyond the occipital corners of head by about 1 / 3 of its length, the two spines of the petiolar node not parallel, laterodorsally pointed. Holotype: worker, Lipu Co. (110.4° E, 24.5 °N), Guangxi Prov. 300 , m, 14-VI -1992, no. A92-243 (Xu Zhenghui). Paratypes: 1 worker, with the same data as holotype; 17 workers, with the same data as holotype but nos. A92-239, A92-244, A92-246, A92-249, A92-255. The type specimens are deposited in the Insect Collection, Department of Forest Protection, Southwest Forestry College, Kunming, Yunnan, China.
