Reservoir Committee of Envision Arlington Date: Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Time: 7:30 PM. Location: Via Zoom Notes – 1. Present: Stephan Miller, David White, Michael Ratner, Ann LeRoyer, Johanna Meyer, George Stephans, Cathy Garnett. 2. Check-ins and Observations from around the Res - The pump house test is done and the water level has been lowered. Phase I is complete. Phase II is now being permitted and will go out for bids in the next month or so. Work may start this spring. There were 17 swans there today. A few days ago there were many ducks including wood ducks and Canada geese resting at the reservoir. Near the kiosk there are two canoes and plastic baskets full of water chestnuts that need attention. Having skaters on the pond today seemed dangerous given we still have some open water. Would a warning sign be helpful? 3. Accepted November Notes 4. Master plan updates -Phase II Repair and regrade the path. Phase II of the Reservoir Plan was reviewed and approved with some changes. There will be a post and rail fence around the garden and new steps down to Hurd Field. Plans for erosion control on the identified areas on the plan. Need to know the work schedule to plan volunteer work time and location to avoid conflicts. Some guidance on procedures for working when they are working. What will become of the rocks sticking on the bottom of the Res? Phase II does not address those issues focusing only on the land areas. 5. Garden report – Need to develop an inventory of the garden to develop a planting plan. In the Conservation Commission meeting wooden bins for garden and invasive plant waste were discussed. Perhaps split the bin space in two for the invasives and standard waste. Possible areas include are near the current disposal location next to the rocks at the tree line. Close to the garden is best for us, but also needs to be accessible for mechanical removal. Also possible, near the parking lot, possibly another area near the gardens. 6. Workday – tentative March 20 with rain date 27th. 7. Set a meeting for a planting plan in Feb. 8. Signs: “Black Birch” tree label was that it had fallen to the ground and needed to be either retrieved or reattached. A sign in the garden to read “Take only pictures. Leave only footprints.” may help. Or maybe “Please leave the plants for others to enjoy.” A sign for beware of thin ice ? 9. Next Meeting Feb 16th Review of garden planting plan With some additional edits. DEW - 1/28/21
