The paper is entitled “A SEMANTIC ANALYSIS ON ABDULLAH YUSUF ALI’S TRANSLATION OF SURAH AL-FATIHAH”, which is submitted to the English Education Department of Education and Teaching Science of UIN Walisongo Semarang as a partial fulfillment of the requirements for Islamic Scholar Degree in English Education. This thesis is supposed to give new insight in understanding for all Moslems the meaning of surah al-Fatihah. Besides, it is supposed to give new insight in understanding deeply about the aspects of semantic especially in literal meaning, and also deixis for the English department students. Since semantic is the most important subject to understanding any kinds of English writing. So, the researcher tries to give good contributions for the Moslems, English Department Students (EDS), and also for the next researcher to understand deeply about the aspects of semantic especially literal and deixis. Furthermore, the researcher takes Abdullah Yusuf Ali’s translation to be analyzed, because, he is the one of the most famous translator in the world who comes from Bombay. The accomplishment of my bachelors’ degree is the most rewarding achievement in my life. All supports and helps from many people during the time of conducting and reporting the research is ii precious. I am deeply grateful to my supervisors, Dr.H. Raharjo, M. Ed. St, who assisted me in every single step to complete the thesis. Finally, this qualitative research is dedicated to my lovely parents who have taken important parts of emotional and financial support and who never let their daughter down and all of my families who have been a source of motivation when the researcher feels frustrated.
