Expansion of the geographical distribution of Notylia angustifolia (Orchidaceae): first record for the Amazonas State (AM), Brazil3 Amauri Herbert Krahl1'*, Jefferson José Valsko2, Dayse Raiane Passos Krahl3, Ana Sofia Sousa de Holanda1 & Renato Ximenes Bolsanello4'* Abstract Notylia angustifolia Cogniaux is reported for the first time for the Brazilian State of Amazonas. The Neotropical genus Notylia, proposed by Lindley in 1825, is comprised of about 60 species (Chase et al, 2003), of which 25 can be found in Brazil, 15 in the Brazilian Amazon and 7 in the State of Amazonas (Barros et al., 2015). Notylia angustifolia Cogniaux has recently been reported from Brazil by Pessoa et al. (2013), more precisely from the Parque Nacional do Viruâ, in the State of Roraima (RR). This species also occurs in the State of Rondônia (RO), near the Rio Jarü, municipio Ji-paranâ (Barros et al., 2015). The goal of the présent note is to report the first record of the species for the State of Amazonas (AM - Fig. 1). XV - août 2015 Richardiana 323 Notylia angustifolia: first record in Amazonas - Krahl et al. The specimens hâve been treated according to the usual process (Mori et al, 1989) for future placement in the herbaria of the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA) and the Instituto Fédéral do Amazonas (EAFM). Flowers hâve been preserved in 70% alcohol to allow later taxonomie analysis and illustration (Fig. 2). The specimens were identified with the help of Dunsterville & Garay (1966) and Pessoa et al. (2013). Flowering and habitat data were obtained from field observations. The general distribution of the taxon was obtained from WCSP (2015) and Barros et al. (2015). Out of Brazil, Notylia angustifolia is known from Trinidad & Tobago, Venezuela and French Guiana. Notylia angustifolia Fig. 1: Distribution in Brazil Fig. 2: flowers • anterior collections • présent collections The first specimen was found in the campina (a kind of open grassland) area of the Biological Reserve of Campina (INPA), which is located at km 44 on the BRI74 road, connecting Manaus (AM) to Boa Vista (RR). The second specimen was collected in flower in a campinarana, in the municipio Novo Airâo (AM), near km 27 of the highway. It was growing on lower branches of Macucü (Aldina heterophylla Spruce ex Bentham), at about 2.5 m above ground level. The environment presented many thin shrubs, bright light conditions and a very irregular ground, with many dépréssions allowing water accumulation. 324 Richardiana XV - août 2015 Notylia angustifolia: first record in Amazonas - Krahl et al.
